Today with fitted brown eavemaster upvc soffit, fascia and gutters to a house in cherrywood in clondalkin dublin.
We were very lucky with the weather as it lashed rain soon after we finished.
The house had a deep soffit and a hipped roof so that means gutters all around the house.

A Stitch In Time?
Nine houses in Beaufort Villas in Rathfarnham had all their cast iron gutters pulled down by the snow in january 2011.
The whole upper level came tumbling down onto the roof of the lower level, causing damage to the roof slates but luckily enough no injury to persons.
These houses are under a preservation order so whatever gutters we supplied had to be compliant.
We used the gutterman 54 heavy duty cast aluminium gutter all the way along the upper level of all nine houses, it comes in a three metre length and is fixed directly to the fascia board.
Looking at the lower level, it might be advisable to replace these also, before they cause injury or damage.

cowboys in Bray
Today we had to remove the pvc fascia and soffit that had been put up by cowboys who came knocking on the doors in riddlesford in Bray. The owner had allowed these guys start the work on his house having read the flyers with pretty pictures of other peoples work.
They had put up the fascia over rotten wood, using poor fixings and having no clue about carpentry.
Having endured hassle from these guys he eventually called us.
We removed all the ill fitting stuff, repaired the timber and fitted new eavemaster upvc soffit, fascia, and guttering to the house.
The owner is delighted with the work and that is good enough for us!.

fitted black fascia, black soffit, and black seamless aluminium gutters in cabinteely dublin today.
We had to do it before the insulation was fitted to the exterior.
It took one day to complete and the customer is very happy with the job.
We fitted underfelt support tray first, and sealed the side apex to prevent water infiltration which is known to cause dampness in the upstairs rooms.

Birds in the attic
Almost Finished a house in leopardstown today except we found birds in the attic.we will have to go back when the birds have flown to block off a gap we left in order for them to leave the nest and escape the attic.
This is the nesting season and it's a usual occurrence to find birds nest just under the tiles and in the soffit.
If you have any questions call Bernard at 0876798691.

fascia soffit gutters in castleknock dublin
this week we fitted brown soffit, white fascia and black gutters to a house in castleknock woods in dublin.
It was an unusual request, it's only the second time we have had to fit three different colours to the one house, but the clients wanted to keep it the same colour as the original so we were happy to oblige.
It looked well when finished.

white fascia soffit and gutters in lucan dublin
We had an interesting job in lucan today, the client wanted us to take down poorly fitted fascia and gutters, and to replace them with eavemaster white soffit, fascia and eavemaster supreme gutters.
The original gutters were fitted withour paying attention to levels and as a result; water was ponding in the gutters and leaking at the joints.
We fitted the soffit using rustproof fixings, we fitted the fascia using special stainless steel nails with polypropelene heads to prevent rust.
We fitted the gutter brackets after first setting levels and using 5 by forty millimeter wood screws.
Before we fit the fascia and soffit we repair the timber and cut out the rotten wood.
We also do a full replacement option which removes all the wood first and fits a 18mm upvc board in its place, we fit eaves skirt or underfelt support tray to prevent ponding in the eaves.
Its a much better job in a lot of cases.
If you have any questions or would like a quote please call me on 087 6798 691.

white cladding in rathfarnham
We cladded the gable of a house in rathfarnham this week, It was unusual in that it had a horseshoe shape in timber to clad with fascia so needed a bit of engineering to succeed.
We used white eavemaster soffit, brown eavemaster fascia. We used brown seamless aluminium gutters to match.
the job took two days to complete and is a far superior finish to the jobs on the surrounding houses.

gutters and snow the facts
having experienced the snow of december last, i just want to point out a few facts that have emerged regarding the affects of snow and ice on gutters.
I have fitted hundreds of houses over the last ten years with all types of gutter,
The most common one is the upvc one followed by the seamless aluminium one.
After the snow we got a lot of calls about gutters being pulled down by the weight of snow and ice sliding off the roof.
what i found a lot of times was that the gutters were fitted with to big a gap beween brackets causing the gutter to sag under the weight and pull downwards causing the gutter to pull away from the brackets and onto the ground.
Another thing I noticed which surprised me was: the pvc brackets had become brittle with the cold and so easily snapped, causing the gutter to fall to the ground.
Another weakness of pvc gutters is that the rubber seals at the joints go brittle with the cold and crack cousing leaks when the thaw comes.
In conclusion i would have to say that the aluminium gutter fitted using hangers and (not nails)spaced 24 inches apart is the better choice for snow loading.
If you need to use pvc gutters I would recommend using eavemaster supreme gutters using brackets spaced 24 inches apart fixed with two 5 x 50mm screws in each bracket.
